Eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of 28-year-old autorickshaw driver Shashi Kumar near Dhanuki Mor, Patna. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Agamkuan police station.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Avakash Kumar disclosed on Saturday that the killing stemmed from a dispute over the division of stolen property. “Using technical evidence, the criminals were identified and apprehended. During questioning, it was uncovered that both the accused and the victim were members of a professional gang involved in thefts across multiple police stations over the last two to three months,” he explained.
The gang has been linked to 12 robbery cases in various locations since March. “We have shared the information with neighboring districts to support ongoing investigations,” added the SSP.
Those arrested include Anil Kumar Mahto, Vicky Kumar, Anil Kumar Chaudhary, Rahul Kumar, Rocky Ram, Baiju Kumar Ram, Shubham Kumar, and Shivam Kumar. Authorities recovered 162 grams of gold jewelry, over 4.5 kg of silver ornaments, a motorbike, a helmet, 12 mobile phones, three pistols, four magazines, and 12 live cartridges. The total estimated value of the seized items is approximately Rs 30 lakh.
