A theft involving four hard disks occurred at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad on Tuesday, May 20, prompting an investigation by the Punjagutta police. The theft was discovered after officials reviewed recent CCTV footage from the premises and found that the hard disks had been stolen from Sudharma Bhavan.
The theft investigation is linked to a prior incident that began on May 10, when a female employee from Raj Bhavan filed a complaint regarding morphed pictures she had received from her colleague, Srinivas, who works in the IT department. It was found that the accused, Srinivas (45), had created the morphed images, leading to his immediate suspension.
However, the situation escalated when Srinivas returned to the Raj Bhavan on May 14, entering the premises and stealing four hard disks. Upon receiving a complaint from the IT manager, the police launched a fresh investigation, which led to the recovery of the stolen hard disks from Srinivas. He was arrested and sent to judicial remand.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police, S Mohan Kumar, clarified that the stolen hard disks did not contain confidential information, refuting rumors about the contents. The investigation into the theft continues.
