In a significant breakthrough, Srinagar Police have solved a major theft case with the arrest of three suspects and recovery of gold items worth Rs9 lakh, along with the vehicle used in the crime.
The investigation began following a written complaint lodged by Ghulam Qadir, a resident of Pati Brein, Nishat. He reported that unknown individuals had broken into his house on February 19, 2025, and stolen valuable gold items. A case was registered at Police Station Nishat under FIR No. 10/2025.
Utilizing digital evidence and field intelligence, the police tracked down and apprehended the suspects:
Mohd Hafiz Ganie, son of Mohd Sultan, from Shallbugh Ganderbal
Bilal Ahmad Ganie, son of Mehraj Uddin, from Asham Sumbal Bandipora
Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Gani, from Safapora Bandipora
During interrogation, the trio admitted to their involvement. Based on their disclosures, police recovered the stolen gold items and an Alto car (registration HR13E-9346) used in the crime.
The investigation is ongoing, with police seeking to trace additional stolen property and any further individuals linked to the case.
