Srinagar Police Arrest Umar Ahmad Mir for Rs. 10 Lakh Theft

Theft case solved with recovery of stolen cash, scooty, and phone.

On Monday, Srinagar Police announced the resolution of a theft case, with the arrest of the primary suspect involved in the crime.

A police spokesperson revealed that on April 15, 2025, they received a complaint from Tauseef Ahmad Mir, a resident of Kaksarai, Srinagar. Mir reported that during the night of April 14-15, an unknown individual(s) had stolen approximately Rs. 10 lakh from his shop’s drawer in Kaksarai.

A case was promptly filed, and investigators began questioning several suspects. After thorough analysis of technical evidence and CCTV footage, the police identified the accused as Umar Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Ashraf Mir, from Chanipora, Karnah.

The accused led the police to the recovery of stolen cash worth Rs. 7,50,530, along with a scooty and a mobile phone, which were bought using the stolen funds.

The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover any further connections in the case.
