As part of its ongoing crackdown on illegal narcotics, Srinagar police have arrested two drug peddlers and seized a substantial quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement released by the police, a team from the Police Post Urdu Bazar set up a checkpoint at Maharaj Gunj, where they arrested Owais Mushtaq Dar, a resident of Sheikh Mohalla, SR Gunj. Upon searching him, police recovered a significant quantity of illegal drugs. A case was immediately registered under FIR No. 05/2025 and an investigation was initiated.
While probing further, investigators identified Momin Bilal Kanu, a resident of Banday Kocha, Maharaj Gunj, as another suspect. Kanu was subsequently arrested, and a substantial amount of contraband was found in his possession as well. Both suspects have been detained, and the investigation continues.
The police spokesperson urged the public to report any drug-related activities, emphasizing that individuals who witness such crimes should contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. The authorities reassured citizens that the J&K Police would take strict action against criminals involved in drug peddling and other illegal activities.
