Srinagar Police Arrest Shahid Ahmad Bhat and Aqib Ahmad Sofi in Theft Case

Stolen copper utensils, cash, and mobile phone recovered from accused

Srinagar Police have successfully solved a theft case by arresting two accused individuals involved in stealing copper utensils, cash, and a mobile phone from a residence in Tawheed Abad, Maloora. The stolen items were recovered from their possession following their arrest.

According to a police spokesperson, on November 7, 2024, Shabaz Geelani, a resident of Tawheed Abad Maloora, lodged a complaint with Police Station Shalteng. He stated that on November 6, 2024, unknown burglars had entered his home and stolen several items, including copper utensils, cash, and a mobile phone.

Following the complaint, a case (FIR No. 84/2024) was registered, and an investigation was launched. A special team was formed under the supervision of the SHO of Police Station Shalteng to identify the suspects. With the help of technical input and diligent investigation efforts, two individuals, Shahid Ahmad Bhat and Aqib Ahmad Sofi, both residents of Maloora, were identified as the culprits.

The accused were arrested, and during their interrogation, they disclosed the location of the stolen property, which was subsequently recovered.

The community has praised the efforts of the police in solving the case, and local authorities have urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement by reporting suspicious activities. The cooperation of the community remains vital to ensuring the safety and security of the district.
