Srinagar: In a determined effort to combat drug trafficking, Srinagar Police have apprehended a notorious drug peddler and seized a significant quantity of heroin-like substance.
A police team from Police Station Shaltang stopped a vehicle at a checkpoint in Ranbirgarh and arrested Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, son of Gulzar Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Lawaypora. Upon searching him, authorities recovered a substantial amount of contraband drugs believed to be heroin.
Following the arrest, Police Station Shaltang registered a case vide FIR No. 39/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, with investigations currently ongoing.
J&K Police reaffirmed their zero-tolerance stance against drug trafficking and urged citizens to report any information regarding drug abuse or trafficking in their communities. “Together, we can work towards building a safer, drug-free society,” they said.
