In their ongoing efforts to eliminate drug trafficking, police in Srinagar and Budgam have arrested four individuals, seizing a significant amount of contraband substances.
A statement from the authorities detailed that a team from the Noorbagh Police Post intercepted a vehicle (KUV-100) at a checkpoint near Noorbagh Chowk. The vehicle, bearing registration number JK01AD-2899, was carrying three individuals who were identified as Ahmad Bin Ishaq Kawa (son of Mohd Ishaq, resident of Nawakadal), Daniyal Ahmad Basati (son of Ajaz Ahmad, resident of Palpora Noorbagh), and Taha Yasir (son of Yasir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Aalikadal, Srinagar). During the search, 184 grams of charas were recovered from their possession. The trio was arrested, and the vehicle used in the crime was seized.
In another operation in Budgam, a police team from Police Station Magam intercepted a suspicious individual at a checkpoint in Aripanthan. The person was identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie (son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie, resident of Saranhal Batpora, Budgam). Authorities discovered 61 grams of charas-like substance wrapped in corn husk in his possession, leading to his arrest.
Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law at the respective police stations, and investigations are ongoing. The police are calling on the public to report any drug trafficking or criminal activities by contacting the nearest police station or dialing 112. They assured the public that strict legal action would be taken against offenders.
