Ullal police arrested Srijith Shetty on Monday for possession and attempted sale of the narcotic substance MDMA near Kotekar village. Based on a complaint by CCB PSI Sudeep MV, the police received reliable information that Shetty was carrying MDMA with intent to sell near a bridge on the road leading to a college in Beeri.
Officials reached the site around 7:30 pm and observed the suspect carrying a backpack. At approximately 7:45 pm, the police identified Shetty and conducted a raid. Despite attempts to flee, he was apprehended.
Approximately 5.5 grams of MDMA, estimated to be worth Rs 50,000, was recovered from Shetty. He admitted to having procured the narcotics illegally from a Nigerian national through an individual named Irfan from KC Road, with the intent to resell at a higher price.
Along with the drugs, a mobile phone and travel bag were seized. A case has been registered against Srijith Shetty, Irfan, and the unidentified Nigerian national under relevant narcotics laws.
