A Southaven teacher has been arrested and charged with child exploitation following an investigation into inappropriate conduct with a student. Stephen Hart, 35, who serves as the assistant band director at DeSoto Central Middle School, was taken into custody on Tuesday.
The arrest came after a complaint was made to Southaven Police regarding Hart’s behavior. The investigation revealed that Hart had made inappropriate comments to a student, although the specifics of those comments have not been disclosed.
Hart now faces two counts of child exploitation. The Southaven Police Department is continuing its investigation into the matter.
In a statement to WREG, the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office acknowledged the arrest but referred further inquiries to the Southaven Police Department, pending the completion of the investigation.
