SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. — The South Pasadena Police Department (SPPD) announced two arrests tied to separate theft investigations that occurred in late December 2025, involving stolen electric bicycles, package thefts, and trespassing incidents.
Electric Bicycle Theft Arrest
On Dec. 26, SPPD officers responded to a report of two electric bicycles stolen from an apartment complex in the 200 block of Monterey Road. Surveillance footage showed a lone suspect taking the bicycles on the night of Dec. 25. The video was shared with local media, prompting tips from the public.
Detectives later identified the suspect as Joaquin Estrada, 31, of Los Angeles. Arrest and search warrants were issued on Dec. 29. Before officers could serve the warrants, Estrada arranged with an acquaintance to return the stolen bicycles to the owner. Police monitored the exchange and arrested Estrada without incident at the meeting location. The bicycles were recovered and returned.
Estrada was booked into the Pasadena City Jail on charges of grand theft and burglary. He is scheduled for arraignment in Pasadena Superior Court on Dec. 30.
Package Theft and Trespassing Arrest
Later on Dec. 29, at about 9:52 p.m., officers responded to reports of a man stealing packages, prowling, and trespassing near Floral Park Terrace and Hermosa Street. Officers coordinated with nearby agencies, using ground units and air support to locate the suspect, who attempted to flee on foot.
The suspect, identified as David Aguilar, 40, an unhoused individual from Los Angeles, was arrested and booked on theft-related charges. Aguilar was also held on a felony probation warrant. A stolen package was recovered during the arrest and returned to its owner.
SPPD credited quick response times, community tips, and coordinated enforcement efforts for the successful arrests.
