In a significant crackdown on illegal human trafficking operations, South Goa police have recommended the closure of two massage parlours in Colva after a raid led to the rescue of nine women allegedly forced into prostitution.
The raids, carried out on October 7 by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) in collaboration with NGO ARZ, exposed a sex trafficking network operating under the guise of wellness services.
The police arrested three women in connection with the case: Ishika Chotu (27), Chandini Chotu (30)—both from Rajasthan—and Radhika Sharma, for allegedly coercing young women into the flesh trade.
The recommendation for closure has been forwarded to the South Goa Collector under the Goa Public Health Act, which allows sealing of establishments posing risks to public health and safety.
Authorities continue investigations, while the rescued women are being provided with counseling and rehabilitation.
