Police Seize Brown Sugar, Scooter, and Mobiles in Syndicate Crackdown

In a major crackdown, Jagatsinghpur Police arrested six members of the notorious ‘Don Brothers’ drug cartel near Mangalpur Bypass in Jagatsinghpur district.

Accused Details

Soumyajit Parija alias Biki – Gang leader from Ohala village; previously arrested in 2021 for 3 kg brown sugar and Rs 1 crore; involved in 7 criminal cases

Swapnajit Parija alias Jaki – Ohala village

Tushar Ranjan Das – Ohala village

Ranjit Das alias Sipu – Ohala village

Abhijatya Sahoo – Lalasahi village

Ranjan Kumar Gochayat – Lalasahi village

One accused – still absconding

Seizures

70 grams of brown sugar

One scooter

Three mobile phones used in drug operations

Syndicate Operations

The “Don Brothers” cartel, led by Biki Parija, ran a district-wide network linked to suppliers in Murshidabad, West Bengal. Drugs were smuggled via the Digha coast using boats, with layered payment channels to avoid detection.

Police reported that the gang targeted college and school students, offering free samples to lure them into addiction.

Police Statement

SDPO Jagatsinghpur emphasized that credible intelligence and swift action were crucial in dismantling this part of the drug syndicate. Investigations continue to track suppliers and other members of the network.
