Sooraj K Arrested for Stealing Valuables Worth Rs21 Lakh in Dakshina Kannada

n a breakthrough operation, the police in Dakshina Kannada have apprehended a man, Sooraj K, for his involvement in a series of daylight robberies, which resulted in the theft of valuables worth Rs21 lakh.

Sooraj, aged 36 and a native of Uppala Guddemane in Kasargod, was arrested after a special police team traced his activities. The suspect had been targeting homes in the region, breaking into properties while the owners were away.

The most significant robbery occurred on December 20, when gold ornaments worth approximately Rs18 lakh were stolen from a house in Bhaktakodi, located within the limits of the Puttur police station. In addition to gold, Sooraj stole items from multiple locations across Dakshina Kannada, including Bhaktakodi, Kalleri, Ira, Alangaru village, and several others.

A total of 200 grams of gold ornaments, valued at Rs18 lakh, and a Maruti Alto car, valued at Rs3 lakh, were seized during the investigation. The car was also used by Sooraj in carrying out the robberies.

Police acted swiftly, guided by Additional SP Rajendra D S and SP Yathish, who acknowledged the efforts of the team with a special prize for their work in solving the case.

This arrest marks a significant victory in the region’s ongoing battle against rising property crimes.
