Sonepat Police Arrest Robbers, Liquor Offenders in Night Raid

Mamta Singh leads crackdown on drugs, robbery, and theft

In a large-scale crime crackdown, Sonepat police launched a night domination campaign on Saturday night to address the surge in crime, drug trafficking, and traffic violations. The operation was carried out between 11 pm and 4 am, deploying nearly 90% of district police personnel.

The initiative was led by Commissioner of Police and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mamta Singh, who directed the setup of special nakas across the district. Police inspected 2,383 vehicles, issuing 155 challans and impounding 26 vehicles.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Narender Kadyan confirmed that hotels, dharamshalas, and public places were also checked. The campaign resulted in multiple arrests, including:

Two individuals in illegal liquor cases

One suspect with illegal weapons

Two accused in a violent vehicle and cash robbery

One suspect with a stolen motorcycle

Two others—one bail jumper and one proclaimed offender

In the armed robbery case, the accused were identified as Aakash of Old Bus Stand, Rohtak, and Amit of Shiv Nagar, Gohana. According to the complaint by Rakesh of Devru Road, he was robbed on June 19 near Karewri village, where three men held him at gunpoint and fled with his car, ₹2.60 lakh in cash, ₹26,000 from his wallet, and three mobile phones.

Mohana police registered the case and arrested the accused, who were remanded to three days of police custody.

In another case, Vikram of Jhundpur village was arrested by Kundli police with a numberless motorcycle, which was later confirmed to be stolen from Delhi, with a case registered at Alipur Police Station. Vikram was sent to judicial custody.

The night raid also resulted in the arrest of two fugitives, one of whom was a bail jumper and the other a proclaimed offender. Both were produced before the court.

ADGP Mamta Singh stated that such surprise operations will continue to maintain law and order in the region.
