A TVS Jupiter scooter worth Rs 30,000 was stolen from outside a residence in Somalwada under Sonegaon Police Station limits on the night of November 12.
The complainant, Rahul Mahesh Balekar (34) of Srushti Apartment, Somalwada, Wardha Road, reported that his scooter (MH-31-FN-9851) was parked and locked outside his house between 10 pm on November 12 and 7 am on November 13, when it was stolen.
Following the complaint, Sonegaon Police registered a case. Crime Branch Unit 1 conducted a technical investigation and, acting on reliable information, detained Simon alias Shetty Anthony Francis (22) from Ajni near Mata Mandir. During questioning, he confessed to stealing the Jupiter scooter.
Further investigation revealed that Simon, along with his accomplice and wanted co-accused Aniket Meshram, was also involved in mobile theft cases under Beltarodi Police Station limits.
Police recovered the stolen Jupiter scooter, three stolen mobile phones, and three additional handsets, valued at approximately Rs 73,500. Both accused and the recovered property have been handed over to Sonegaon Police for further action.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Police Commissioner Ravinderkumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Navin Chandran Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil, by officers of Crime Branch Unit 1.
Further investigation into the accused and their network is ongoing.
