Sonamura: Acting on specific intelligence, Sonamura Police launched a secret operation on the night of Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the Durgapur area of Sonamura.
During the operation, the police arrested one Bangladeshi national and one Indian tout for violations of immigration laws.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Easin Arafat (19), son of Lt. Masuk Miah, from Songrise, PS-Kotwali, District-Comilla, Bangladesh
Abul Khyear (45), resident of Durgapur, Ward No-02, Sonamura, Sepahijala, Tripura
A case has been registered under the Immigration and Foreigners Act 2025 and the BNS Act 2023.
Inspector Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura Police Station, told the media that operations against illegal migration and contraband activities would continue to maintain law and order in the region.
