In Andheri (East), the police arrested 37-year-old Sonali Bait and her live-in partner Mahesh Pandey, aged 58 and 45 respectively, for the murder of Sonali’s father, Shankar Kamble. Kamble had opposed Sonali’s ongoing affair, prompting a violent confrontation that turned fatal.
On June 11, Kamble was assaulted around 5:20 pm near Andheri-Kurla Road after an argument involving Sonali, Mahesh, and her brother Rahul, who had intervened. Witnesses reported Mahesh punched Kamble in the chest, causing him to collapse and lose consciousness. He was rushed first to a private hospital, then transferred to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, where he was declared dead at 6:20 pm.
The couple had stayed apart from Kamble since Sonali began living with Mahesh in 2022, leaving her husband and two children behind after moving to a live-in arrangement with him. The deadly incident follows earlier family disputes
A complaint was filed by Rahul Kamble, leading to the arrest of Mahesh first, followed by Sonali, who had attempted to evade capture. They are currently in custody awaiting charges related to murder and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
