In a tragic and disturbing incident in Charbhati village under Kuchinda police limits, a 70-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by his own son on Thursday evening, leaving the village in shock.
Eyewitnesses and preliminary police reports reveal that the accused, 23-year-old Bibaradhan Raksha, returned home intoxicated and demanded money from his father, Kripasindhu Raksha, to buy more liquor. When the elderly father refused, citing his son’s worsening addiction, a heated argument erupted.
The dispute quickly escalated into violence. In a fit of rage, Bibaradhan reportedly pushed his father to the ground and struck him repeatedly on the head and face, killing him instantly. Villagers said the accused lingered near the victim’s body for hours before fleeing once the police were alerted.
Kuchinda police launched a manhunt and later apprehended Bibaradhan, who is now in custody for further investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that a detailed probe is ongoing. The incident has sparked grief and outrage in the community, with many calling for strict action against the accused and attention to the issue of alcohol addiction in rural areas.
