Solomon Owens, 26, was arrested Thursday night in Raleigh while officers attempted to serve a warrant related to the Feb. 9 shooting death of Joey Adams.
As Raleigh police approached the 7100 block of Woodbend Drive, Owens allegedly fired at officers. At least one officer returned fire. Neither party suffered fatal injuries. Owens sustained minor injuries, was hospitalized, and released into police custody. One officer was also treated and released.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is conducting an independent review, standard procedure for officer-involved shootings. Raleigh police will present a five-day report to the City Manager detailing the incident.
