Ludhiana Rural Police have arrested three soldiers in connection with a heroin smuggling case. The initial arrest was of Army man Bikramjit Singh from Bhanohar village on May 14, when 255 grams of heroin were recovered from his possession. Subsequently, police detained Gurdev Singh, father of a friend of Bikramjit, from Dolon Kalan.
Further investigation led to the arrest of two more soldiers, Hawaldar Baljit Singh from Faridkot district and Sepoy Jaswinder Singh from Hoshiarpur, who are colleagues of Bikramjit Singh and posted in Kashmir. These arrests were made in Kashmir based on leads that surfaced during the probe.
While no contraband has been recovered yet from Baljit Singh and Jaswinder Singh, police are continuing interrogation to verify their roles. Bikramjit Singh claimed during questioning that this was his first time engaging in drug smuggling, which he conducted while on leave.
Police sources revealed that Bikramjit joined the Army about four years ago and had been posted in Srinagar for the past seven months. During his leaves, he reportedly dealt with drug customers via social media and messenger apps. The investigation is ongoing, with further revelations expected.
