Indian engineer denies scamming, cites necessity for juggling multiple roles

Indian engineer Soham Parekh, originally from Mumbai and now living in the United States since 2020, recently addressed widespread accusations that he held multiple jobs at several startups simultaneously. The controversy ignited after Mixpanel co-founder Suhail Doshi publicly called Parekh a scammer on Twitter, prompting a flood of online debate.

In an interview with TBPN, Parekh openly confirmed that he indeed worked multiple jobs at the same time. When asked whether he believed this violated any employment contracts or exploited legal loopholes, he responded candidly, “It is true,” and elaborated on his motivations.

“I’m not proud of what I’ve done. It’s not something I endorse either,” Parekh said, emphasizing that his decision stemmed from financial necessity rather than greed. “No one really likes to work 140 hours a week but I had to do it out of necessity.”

Parekh’s explanation highlights the pressures faced by some tech workers balancing multiple commitments under difficult financial circumstances, even as questions remain about the ethical and contractual implications of his actions.
