In a significant development, Uppinangady police have arrested a 24-year-old man who had been on the run for five years, wanted in connection with eight theft cases across Karnataka and Kerala.

The accused, Sohail alias Sohib, originally from Hassan, was apprehended in Bittagowdanahalli, Hassan district, after a tip-off. He was later produced before the court.

Sohail is the prime suspect in multiple thefts, including:

Two cases registered at Uppinangady police station (2020, 2022)

One case each at Bantwal Town and Ullal police stations (2020)

One case at Kannapuram police station, Kerala (2022)

Though recently residing in Talapady, Mangaluru, Sohail had frequently changed locations to avoid arrest, making it difficult for authorities to track him.
