The district police have apprehended a habitual offender, Sohail Khan (also known as Sameer Khan, Shohaib Bin Munaf Khan, and Zaheer Khan, 38), involved in a string of daylight burglaries across Atmakur and Nandyal-I Town.

Khan, a resident of Bengaluru North, was arrested on Sunday near the SRBC canal along the Atmakur–Velugodu road. Acting on credible intelligence, police recovered stolen property from his possession.

Speaking to the media, SP Suneel Sheoran confirmed that Khan was linked to Crime No. 106/2025 at Atmakur Police Station and Crime No. 32/2025 at Nandyal-I Town Police Station, filed under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

During the investigation, authorities seized 42 tolas of gold ornaments—including chains, necklaces, bangles, earrings, and rings—valued at approximately Rs 65 lakh.

The SP noted that Khan had been carrying out daytime house burglaries in the Atmakur and Nandyal regions for some time, evading arrest while living a lavish lifestyle funded by the stolen wealth. The recovered jewelry had been hidden near the SRBC canal at Velugodu.
