Snow Hill Man Arrested for Stolen Car, Faces Multiple Fraud and Identity Theft Charges

KINSTON, NC – A Snow Hill man was arrested after Kinston Police pulled him over in a stolen vehicle early Friday morning.

Montaris Johnson, 26, was driving a car that had been reported stolen on July 17, 2024. Police had previously identified Johnson as a suspect in the case and had issued multiple warrants for his arrest.

Authorities say Johnson faces a long list of charges, including:

Forgery
Identity Theft
Two counts of Trafficking Stolen Identities
Obtaining Property by False Pretenses
Two counts of Felony Conspiracy
Aiding & Abetting Forgery
Two counts of Misdemeanor Conspiracy
Felony Aiding & Abetting
Three counts of Larceny of Chose in Action
Three counts of Possession of Stolen Goods
Three counts of Accessing Computers
Forgery of an Instrument
Legal Proceedings
Johnson was taken to the Lenoir County Jail and booked under a secured bond. His court date is yet to be announced.
