In a significant drug bust during the Deepavali holiday, Thai authorities arrested six Malaysians, including a well-known modern dikir barat singer from Kelantan, for possessing drugs worth RM90,000. The arrests took place at a hotel near Sungai Golok at around 6 am, following a police raid based on intelligence about local drug activities.

Three women and three men, aged 25 to 32, were detained after officers found pills in their room during the operation. Two of the suspects had reportedly entered Thailand illegally via a jetty along the Sungai Golok river.

Sources confirmed that one of the women arrested was a popular modern dikir barat singer from Kelantan. The group is currently being held at the Sungai Golok police station, and will be brought to Narathiwat court for remand.

Authorities have informed their Malaysian counterparts about the arrests. Two suspects managed to escape during the operation.
