The arrests were made during routine inspections in Sukedhara, where drivers were found to have consumed narcotics before operating their vehicles, said Naresh Raj Subedi, spokesperson for the Valley Traffic Police Office.

Those detained include:

Shekharnath Ghimire (39) – Arjundhara Municipality-6, Jhapa

Sajid Ansari (33) – Pachrauta Municipality-6, Bara

Suman Pariyar (22) – Belkotgadhi Municipality, Nuwakot

Kapil Thapa (32) – Public bus driver, Thaha Municipality-4, Makwanpur

The detainees have been sent to their respective police offices for further investigation.

Valley Traffic Police Chief Navaraj Adhikari emphasized that officers continue to conduct alcohol and drug tests across the region and urged all drivers, especially those operating public vehicles, to refrain from driving under the influence.

“Public vehicle drivers carry many passengers, and driving under the influence puts multiple lives at risk. Anyone violating the law will face legal action,” Adhikari warned.
