Sitaramdera police successfully seized 26 kilograms of ganja and arrested two alleged smugglers during a targeted raid near the local bus stand. The confiscated narcotics are estimated to have a market value of approximately Rs3.5 lakh.
Acting on a specific tip-off about a large consignment in transit, a police team led by local Sitaramdera officials laid a trap near the bus stand. Officers intercepted two suspicious individuals, and a subsequent search recovered the 26 kg haul of ganja.
The arrested suspects have been identified as:
Biswajit Biswas
Mohd. Tabeez
During preliminary interrogation, the duo admitted to transporting the narcotics from Odisha, planning to supply the consignment across districts in Bihar and West Bengal, using Jamshedpur as a transit point.
Addressing the media, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Piyush Pandey confirmed the seizure and noted the suspected involvement of an organized trafficking syndicate. “We are interrogating the accused to trace the source of the drugs in Odisha and identify other network members,” SSP Pandey stated.
He emphasized that the district police will continue intensified operations against illegal drug trade and warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in narcotics trafficking.
