The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested four suspects, including the alleged mastermind, in connection with a housebreaking and robbery case registered at Dhanwanthri Nagar Police Station on January 2, 2025.

The arrested individuals are Sriram alias Sriramachandran (39), Nivas alias Yuvaraj (26), and Suri alias Sathish (29). On the night of January 2, these three intruded into the home of Sankar alias Barani (26) at Chinnaiyanpet, Pudu Saram, where they robbed 20 sovereigns of gold ornaments, an Apple iPhone, and a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) at knifepoint from the couple.

The mastermind behind the robbery, Syeduphasha (33) from Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, was captured by the Special Task Force (STF) in Goa. Having been absconding across multiple states, Syeduphasha was wanted for 34 criminal cases registered at the Dhanwanthri Nagar Police Station in 2024. After being brought back to Puducherry by STF officials, Inspector Karthikeyan and SI Santhosh, he confessed to his involvement in several criminal activities.

The trio was apprehended at Gorimedu Truck Terminal, and following interrogation, they admitted to their roles in the robbery. Police seized the suspects’ car, a mobile phone, and Rs 1.7 lakh. Further investigation led to the recovery of 15 sovereigns of gold, an iPhone, and another stolen vehicle.

Authorities have identified two more suspects linked to the case, and efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest them.
