Content creator and social media influencer Sinikiwe Mhlongo was arrested last week in Fourways, Johannesburg, for allegedly driving recklessly and exceeding the speed limit. Mhlongo, known for her social media presence, was granted bail of R1000 following her arrest and detention at the Sandton Police Station.

Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko confirmed Mhlongo’s arrest and her subsequent court appearance at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court. The court date occurred on November 11, 2024, though the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has yet to provide any updates on the case.

According to the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), Mhlongo was caught driving at 180 km/h in a 60km/h zone near the upscale Fourways Gardens estate. Authorities reported that Mhlongo was apprehended during a routine operation when a speeding camera detected her vehicle’s excessive speed.

During the operation, more than 50 other individuals were arrested for similar traffic violations, including driving under the influence of alcohol, which is a common factor in reckless driving incidents, the police officer noted.

Mhlongo, a popular YouTube sensation, previously made headlines when she addressed trolls who frequently discussed her past relationship with ex-boyfriend Zamani Mbatha. Her July Instagram post, where she opened up about their breakup, went viral.

Attempts to contact Mhlongo for comment went unanswered, as her phone number was not reachable, and she did not respond to inquiries on her social media accounts.
