Amritsar Rural Police have successfully dismantled a major cross-border narcotics smuggling operation, leading to the arrest of Simran Singh from Basarke Gillan village. Singh, a suspected drug peddler, was apprehended after a significant operation that uncovered a consignment of 30 kilograms of heroin hidden inside a car.
The heroin, reportedly smuggled into India using drones from Pakistan, was recovered by authorities in the Gharinda police station area. The operation was carried out with intelligence gathered by the police, highlighting Singh’s involvement in the large-scale drug trafficking network.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the seizure, stating that the drugs were transported via drones across the international border, and Singh was caught in possession of the smuggled drugs. The authorities are currently investigating the entire drug nexus, including the use of drones for trafficking, and working on expanding the probe to catch other members involved in the illicit network.
A case has been filed against Singh under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, with further investigation underway to uncover more details and connections.
