Simon Leviev, ‘Tinder Swindler’, Arrested in Georgia for Romance Scams
Simon Leviev, the Israeli conman infamously known as the “Tinder Swindler,” has been arrested in Georgia. He gained international notoriety for posing as a wealthy diamond mogul and using dating apps to defraud multiple women out of millions of pounds.
Leviev, whose real name is Shimon Hayut, became a global figure after a Netflix documentary exposed how he manipulated women emotionally and financially, often convincing them he was in danger and needed large sums of money urgently.
Authorities in Georgia confirmed his detention, although full details surrounding the arrest are yet to be disclosed. Leviev had previously been deported from Greece in 2019 and served a short sentence in Israel before resurfacing in various countries.
Despite his criminal history and media exposure, Leviev continued to maintain a high-profile lifestyle on social media, frequently sharing images of luxury travel and designer goods.
Law enforcement officials are now working to determine whether Leviev will face new charges and if any of his past victims will be able to recover their losses.
