PHILADELPHIA — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Silvestre Herrera-Vasquez, a 48-year-old Mexican national, on July 28 in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The operation was conducted in partnership with ERO Philadelphia, HSI, IRS, and ATF.

Herrera-Vasquez, whose date of entry into the U.S. is unknown, has a criminal history involving retail theft and a warrant for rape under multiple aliases.

In 2011, Philadelphia Police arrested him for retail theft under the name “Alex Acosta,” for which he was convicted and fined. In 2014, a warrant was issued under another alias, “Marcos Garcia-Reyes,” in connection to a strongarm rape case.

ICE stated that Herrera-Vasquez will undergo expedited removal and remain in custody throughout the process.

“This arrest demonstrates ICE’s unwavering commitment to community safety,” said ERO Philadelphia Field Office Director Brian McShane, who praised the collaboration between agencies in apprehending dangerous fugitives.
