Following directives from Sri Sathya Sai District Superintendent of Police V Ratna, Puttaparthi police successfully cracked the murder case of Saraswathi, a 35-year-old woman killed by her live-in partner Sikander. The details were shared by SP V Ratna during a press briefing at the district police headquarters alongside DSP Vijay Kumar.

Saraswathi, originally from Sadulavandlapalli village, Gandlapenta Mandal, had been separated from her husband Anjaneyulu for several years due to marital issues. After filing for divorce, she moved to Thalupula with her two sons about eight years ago, working as a daily wage laborer in Balijapet.

During this time, she developed a relationship with Sikander, a local construction worker, and they lived together despite Sikander having a wife. Sikander grew suspicious after noticing Saraswathi’s frequent long phone calls with another man.

On April 22, when Saraswathi’s children were away for a family event in Kadiri, Sikander confronted her and during a heated argument strangled her with a nylon rope. He then transported her body on his motorcycle to a secluded spot near Jammugadda Vanka close to Thalupula Gandi Road and buried it beneath a mound of stones.

Weeks later, with no news from Saraswathi, her elder son filed a missing person complaint at Thalupula Police Station. Taking the matter seriously, SP V Ratna directed DSP Vijay Kumar to intensify the investigation. Police identified Sikander as the prime suspect and launched a search.

Acting on a tip-off, police moved to apprehend Sikander in Rajampet. Realizing he was being tracked, Sikander surrendered before the Thalupula Tahsildar and confessed to the murder. The Thalupula SI documented his statement and ongoing investigations are underway.

SP V Ratna and DSP Vijay Kumar urged the public to maintain vigilance and report suspicious activities to help ensure safety in the community.
