Sidnee Lewis Charged with Theft from Beaumont Chamber of Commerce
BEAUMONT, Texas — Sidnee Lewis, a former Director of Finance and Administration for the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, has been charged with theft for allegedly stealing over $83,000 in goods and services from her employer.
The Alleged Theft and Unauthorized Transactions
Lewis worked at the chamber from November 2022 until May 2024. According to a probable cause affidavit, shared by Magistrate Judge Marc DeRouen, Lewis is accused of unauthorized transactions using credit cards tied to both the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce and the Beaumont Chamber Foundation.
In December 2022, Lewis allegedly conducted several unauthorized Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions through Rave Financial and Capital One accounts, where the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce held accounts. These transactions included payments for personal bills, credit card debts, car insurance, and even a City of Beaumont speeding citation.
The Total Theft Amount
At present, the total amount of the theft stands at $83,362, as detailed in the affidavit.
The charges against Lewis are classified as a 3rd-degree felony, and the case remains under investigation.
