In a swift breakthrough, Uditnagar police arrested three people, including the main accused Siba Singh, in connection with a gold chain snatching incident that occurred on July 13 at Basanti Colony.

The victim, Meena Rana (55), reported the crime after her gold chain was forcibly snatched from her neck while she was plucking flowers early in the morning. The snatcher fled with an accomplice on a motorcycle.

Police launched an investigation immediately after the complaint was filed. On Tuesday night, the primary accused, Siba Singh (26), was arrested along with two others — Sankar Kumar Prasad (35) and Abdullaha Abdullaha (38) — who were identified as receivers of the stolen jewellery. Both reside in the jurisdiction of the Plantsite police station.

During the operation, the police recovered two gold chains and eight gold lockets from the trio. One accomplice involved in the snatching is still absconding, and efforts are ongoing to track him down.

The arrests underscore the continued efforts by local law enforcement to curb street crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.
