Rourkela, Odisha — The Uditnagar police have made a breakthrough in a gold chain snatching case that occurred earlier this month, arresting three individuals and recovering the stolen jewellery. The incident was reported on July 13 by Meena Rana, 55, who was attacked while plucking flowers early in the morning at Basanti Colony.
According to the police report, the assailant approached Meena Rana on a motorcycle with an accomplice and forcibly snatched her gold chain, fleeing the scene immediately.
Based on the complaint, Uditnagar police launched an investigation and successfully apprehended three suspects on Tuesday night:
Siba Singh (26) — identified as the primary snatcher
Sankar Kumar Prasad (35) — resident under Plantsite police station limits
Abdullaha Abdullaha (38) — also from Plantsite area
Sankar and Abdullaha were identified as receivers of the stolen gold, while Siba Singh carried out the actual snatching.
During the arrests, police recovered:
Two gold chains
Eight gold lockets
Despite the success, one suspect remains absconding, and efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him.
Police have confirmed that all three arrested individuals are in custody and being further interrogated for possible involvement in other crimes.
