Bengaluru police have arrested 29-year-old Shubham Shukla from Bagalgunte for allegedly cheating, sexually exploiting, and stealing from a woman after luring her into a fake romantic relationship. The accused is alleged to have defrauded the victim of nearly Rs 20 lakh in cash and approximately 200 grams of gold.

The case, which originated in Nelamangala, involves two sisters. Police said Shukla first befriended the younger sister, who was a minor, and allegedly sexually assaulted her. He then used this connection to gain access to the family and targeted the elder sister.

Shukla reportedly convinced the elder sibling to enter a live-in relationship, asking her to lie to her parents that she was relocating to Mumbai for work. The couple lived together in Bengaluru for nearly three years, during which he allegedly extracted large sums of money and gold from her.

The victim later discovered that Shukla was already married. Despite promises to divorce, he allegedly continued to harass and exploit her. Unable to endure the mistreatment, she eventually approached the police.

A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with charges of cheating. Shukla has been taken into custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
