In yet another blow to the city’s narcotics network, the Indore Crime Branch arrested two men and recovered 14 grams of brown sugar worth Rs2 lakh from their possession on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya dispatched a team to Shivajinagar, where the accused were allegedly about to deliver drugs on a motorcycle. The Crime Branch team laid a trap and apprehended both suspects on the spot.
The arrested individuals were identified as:
Shubham Malaiya, a resident of Chatripura
Aman Narwaria, a resident of Malharganj
Both were employed at a clothing shop in Sitalamata Market and were also drug users, according to police.
During questioning, the duo confessed to sourcing brown sugar from Rajasthan and reselling it at a premium rate in Indore. The motorcycle used for the attempted drug delivery was also seized.
Police have booked them under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act. Notably, Shubham Malaiya already has six prior cases registered against him for similar offenses.
Authorities emphasized that this arrest is part of an ongoing crackdown by the Indore Crime Branch against drug traffickers. In recent months, police have seized narcotics worth crores of rupees and arrested hundreds of accused, reinforcing their commitment to combating drug abuse in the region.
