Shoplifting Trio Arrested in Waldorf with Over $4,000 in Stolen Goods

Sheldon White, Ashanti McClam, and Sommora Middleton Face Felony Theft Charges

On Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 1:34 p.m., Waldorf patrol officers responded to a reported shoplifting in progress at a business located in the 3300 block of Western Parkway. Loss prevention employees had observed two women and one man enter the store, using two carts and reusable shopping bags to gather various items throughout the store until the bags and carts were completely full.

One suspect was recognized as a known shoplifter with a history of thefts totaling over $20,000 from the same business.

When officers arrived, the three suspects fled through the back fire door with the stolen goods. Officers staged nearby apprehended the male suspect, Sheldon White, 39, of Washington, D.C. One female suspect, Ashanti Darnesha McClam, 22, of Oxon Hill, was stopped near the front of the store. The third female, Sommora Therlasa Middleton, 29, of Washington, D.C., fled across the street attempting to enter a waiting vehicle. Officers prevented the vehicle from fleeing and took her into custody. The driver of the vehicle, Darwin Marquette Jones, 34, of Washington, D.C., was also identified.

The suspects had a two-page shopping list of items they planned to steal, including household goods, cleaning products, car waxes and supplies, apparel, purses, jewelry, hardware, and patio décor, totaling over $4,000.

A search warrant was executed on the vehicle, where officers found two more bags filled with stolen items and another shopping list, this time including smartphones, headphones, household supplies, and other specific merchandise. Narcotics were also recovered, leading to pending additional charges.

White was charged with felony theft and had an active warrant for failure to appear in court. McClam faced felony theft charges, possession of narcotics, and had two active arrest warrants. Middleton was charged with felony theft and narcotics possession. Jones was charged with theft scheme.

On August 4, a district court commissioner released White on a $500 unsecured bond, Middleton and Jones on personal recognizance, while McClam remains held without bond. The case continues to be investigated by PFC Elliot.
