Shopian police have arrested Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Darbagh Wachi, in connection with drug trafficking after seizing 2.4 kilograms of charas during a naka checking operation. The checkpoint was set up at Darbagh Wachi as part of an ongoing campaign to combat drug menace in south Kashmir.
During the operation, police intercepted Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar moving under suspicious circumstances. Upon searching him, officers recovered charas sticks weighing around 2.4 kilograms. The contraband was confiscated on the spot, and the accused was taken into custody.
A case has been registered under FIR number 75 of 2025 at Zainapora Police Station under the NDPS Act. Police investigations are ongoing to identify the wider network connected to the suspect.
The operation was led by SI Kaiser Maqbool, with supervision from SDPO Zainapora Waseem Ahmad and overall command by SSP Shopian Anayat Ali Chowdhary (IPS). Authorities reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and urged the public to assist by sharing information on such activities.
