Sho “BlackRay” Hasegawa, a professional Rainbow Six Siege player for Japan’s CAG Osaka esports team, has been arrested along with six others on serious criminal charges. Authorities accuse the group of kidnapping a man and holding him captive for nearly three months, during which the victim endured severe torture and was extorted for approximately 2 million yen (about $13,000).
According to a report from Jiji.com (translated via SiegeGG), the victim was detained at multiple locations from January 29 to April 30. During this period, the kidnappers allegedly inflicted extreme physical abuse, including pouring boiling water on the victim and beating him with a hammer. Further suspected acts of violence include stabbing with a screwdriver and pressing a hot frying pan against the victim’s body.
Disturbingly, the kidnappers reportedly recorded videos of the torture and shared them with undisclosed parties. The victim suffered serious injuries such as broken ribs, a fractured hip, and severe burns as a result of the ordeal.
Sho “BlackRay” Hasegawa has since been released by CAG Osaka following the arrest. The case has sent shockwaves through the esports community, highlighting the severity of the allegations against the pro gamer.
