In a breakthrough joint operation, the Surveillance Crime Unit (DCP North) and Itaunja Police arrested three suspects involved in the Maa Durga Jewellers shop robbery that occurred in Itaunja on March 25, 2025. The suspects have been identified as Shivraj Kashyap (19), a catering worker, and Subhash Lodhi (24) and Shivam Verma (22), both photographers—all hailing from Barabanki district.
The police recovered Rs5,900 in cash, white and yellow metal jewellery, a laptop, a crowbar, and a four-wheeler car used in the crime. Notably, items seized include 36 yellow rings, 200 yellow earrings, and nine white bangles.
According to ADCP North JK Dubey, two suspects were initially detained near New SR Videos at Neem intersection in Barabanki. Based on their interrogation, Shivraj Kashyap was also arrested.
During questioning, the accused admitted to another theft at a cosmetic shop in the Mahigawan area, prompting the registration of two additional FIRs under Sections 331(4)/305 A BNS.
The police are now on the lookout for three more accused—Amit, Sumit, and Jhiri—and are probing their links to a broader criminal network. Inspector Markandey Yadav of Itaunja Police Station confirmed that legal proceedings are ongoing, and raids are being carried out to locate the absconders.
The case is being handled by a joint police task force led by Vishwanath Pratap Singh, including personnel from both Itaunja and Mahigawan Police Stations.
