In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police have arrested Shibin Raj, a 38-year-old from Thiruvananthapuram, for allegedly defrauding a retired Army officer of Rs 23 lakh. Raj is accused of deceiving the officer by promising government jobs for his daughter and other relatives in the Income Tax Department.

Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended Raj from a dormitory in Paharganj. A search of the premises uncovered fake Income Tax identity cards, forged appointment letters, and various banking credentials. Authorities noted that Raj has a history of similar fraudulent activities, with prior complaints filed against him.

Officials are now intensifying efforts to locate co-accused Manish Pandey, who reportedly posed as an official in the scam. Investigators are working to identify additional victims, trace the flow of money, and recover the defrauded funds.

Delhi Police warned the public to be cautious of individuals offering government jobs for money and to verify all appointments through official channels.
