NORTH CAROLINA — A Sherrills Ford man was arrested after breaking into and stealing from a bicycle shop in Morganton earlier this month, according to the Morganton Department of Public Safety.

Sourachay Mysayakhom faces several charges including breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, and motor vehicle theft.

The investigation started on July 7, when police responded to a break-in report at Overmountain Cycles on North Green Street. Authorities say the suspect forced entry through the back door using a chainsaw. Several items were reported stolen by the shop owner.

Investigators identified Mysayakhom as the suspect and traced some stolen goods to a pawn shop in Cherokee. U.S. Park Rangers found Mysayakhom driving a vehicle reported stolen from Morganton, recovering more stolen items from inside. Morganton police traveled to Cherokee to process the vehicle and gather evidence.

Mysayakhom is currently held at the Cherokee County Detention Facility and is scheduled for a court appearance on July 14. The investigation is ongoing.
