Sherman Police Officer Kara Peters Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

Officer placed on administrative leave following arrest by Collin County Sheriff's Office

SHERMAN, Texas — Officer Kara Peters of the Sherman Police Department has been arrested on charges of domestic violence, according to the department.

Peters, who has been with the Sherman Police Department since 2021, was taken into custody on April 5, 2025, by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office as part of an ongoing investigation into the allegations.

The Sherman Police Department issued a statement emphasizing its commitment to integrity, accountability, and professionalism. It reiterated that domestic violence is completely contrary to the principles upheld by law enforcement officers.

As per departmental policy, Peters has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The department also highlighted that every individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and stated that no further comments will be made as the internal investigation continues.
