Sheff G, the 26-year-old Brooklyn rapper, has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder and conspiracy. Michael Williams, known by his stage name Sheff G, accepted a court offer on March 26, reducing the initial proposed sentence of 20 years. Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun imposed a five-year prison term, followed by five years of supervised release.

District Attorney Eric Gonzalez expressed his satisfaction with the sentence, emphasizing that Sheff G’s notoriety could not protect him from facing justice for funding and directing violent activities within his community. Sheff G, affiliated with the 8 Trey Crips and the 9 Ways gang, was part of a larger group charged with a range of violent crimes, including shootings, gun possession, and car thefts.

The charges stemmed from an indictment involving 32 individuals, which included a fatal shooting on October 21, 2020. During this incident, rival gang member Theodore Senior was killed, and five others were injured. Authorities alleged Sheff G’s involvement in the planning of the attack, and prosecutors claimed he celebrated it by hosting a lavish dinner at a Manhattan steakhouse.

Sheff G’s use of his music earnings to fund violent gang activities was a significant aspect of his case. The rapper allegedly used funds to incentivize violent actions, offering money and expensive jewelry to those carrying out the attacks.

In 2021, Sheff G was also accused of organizing a shooting incident in Flatbush, Brooklyn, where he coordinated three shooters and acted as their getaway driver.

Despite his legal troubles, Sheff G and fellow rapper Sleepy Hallow were seen attending a rally in support of Donald Trump’s re-election campaign in May 2023.

Sheff G now faces the consequences of his violent actions as his sentencing concludes a significant chapter in a larger criminal case still ongoing with other defendants.
