ORANGE CITY, Iowa — A man from O’Neill, Nebraska, formerly of Ellsworth, Minnesota, has been arrested on felony burglary charges dating back to 2021.
Shawn Jorgensen, 43, is accused of stealing items from several vehicles, some of which were parked inside garages. According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office, Jorgensen faces charges related to multiple vehicle break-ins.
He was arrested on a warrant on Monday and charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and third-degree burglary, a class D felony. If convicted, Jorgensen could face up to 15 years in prison if the sentences are served consecutively. Additionally, he faces several misdemeanor charges, including seven counts of third-degree vehicle burglary, two counts of fourth-degree theft, four counts of fifth-degree theft, and one count of fifth-degree criminal mischief.
Jorgensen’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 17, 2024. He remains in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City on a $30,000 bond.
