RAVENCLIFF, W.Va. — A Ravencliff woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting another woman during a domestic dispute and being found in possession of controlled substances, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Assault Allegations
On Sunday, August 31, 2025, around 4:20 p.m., troopers responded to a residence in Ravencliff following a report of a domestic incident.
The victim told authorities that Shawn Barnett arrived at her home, accused her of electrocuting her, and appeared visibly intoxicated. During the confrontation, Barnett allegedly punched the victim in the face before returning to her nearby residence.
Drug Discovery at Arrest
When troopers arrived at Barnett’s home, they detected the odor of marijuana. Barnett, who came outside and continued making accusations against the victim, appeared impaired, officers said.
She admitted to possessing marijuana and voluntarily handed over a rolled piece of paper containing a green leafy substance.
Upon further questioning, Barnett retrieved a baggy from her clothing containing:
An unopened Suboxone packet
One Gabapentin tablet
One Subutex sublingual tablet
All substances are classified as controlled under federal law.
Charges and Processing
Barnett was arrested and charged with:
Domestic battery
Four counts of possession of a controlled substance
She was transported to the Jesse Detachment for processing, and the seized substances were logged into evidence.
