NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Early Saturday morning, the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to reports of a robbery at 9th Avenue North and Broadway, leaving a man unconscious and bleeding from his head.
Witnesses told police that Shaquille Bowen confronted the victim, repeatedly striking him in the head until he lost consciousness. Two witnesses reported seeing Bowen search the man’s pockets before fleeing toward Commerce Street.
The victim was hospitalized and initially unable to provide a statement due to intoxication and sedatives. Medical staff recovered identification, credit cards, and $387 in cash, but no wallet or phone.
Police located Bowen near the scene, and he attempted to flee. Officers deployed a Taser to apprehend him, after which he was also taken to a hospital.
Authorities recovered two wallets from Bowen — a brown Perry Ellis wallet and one with a caution-tape design — along with an iPhone 17 and charger. Using the phone’s SOS function, police traced a phone number matching the victim’s area code.
Bowen was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, and misdemeanor evading arrest. He was booked with bond set at $83,500.
